STUDY ON MANUFACTURE OF ISOBUTYLIDENE DIUREA

Abstract
The present investigation deals with the production of isobutylidene diurea (IBDU) condensation products, a slow release source of long-lasting nitrogen fertilizer.
An adequate rev1ew is presented on the importance of slow release fertilizers as a source of effective nutritive elements supplier which avoids the leaching out of valuable nitrogen containing nutrients in the soil.
The recent trends in the production of lsobutyraldehydc
(IBA) condensation products as .a slow release fertilizer by different
) . methods are reviewed in addition to the evaluation of their agronomic values.
Experiments were carried out to study the effect of different operating conditions on the weight of IBA condensation products. The effect of Isobutyraldehyde mole ratio, (2-8); pH of the acidic solution, (2-6); time of mixing after acidification, (5-30 min): temperature of the acidic solution (l 0-60°C); and the effect of stirring on the weight of IBDU condensation products were studied.
The effect of all of the above factors on the rate of dissolution of IBA condensation products is presented as well as the corresponding rate equation and their effect on the index of activitv of Isobutyraldehyde diu rea condensation products.
