MATERNAL AND NEONATAL OUTCOME FOLLOWING EXTRADURAL ANALGESIA OF ROPIVACAINE HYDROCHLORIDE DURING LABOUR
NAGWA MOHAMED ABD EL-GHANI DOHA;
Abstract
Pain during labor is very intense for many women and it is
• the most severe than any other pain of pathological origin.
Extradural block is an effective mean of regional analgesia for providing analgesia during labor as well as providing flexibility to meet the needs of each parturient despite varied obstetric coarse.
Ropivacaine is a new long acting amide local anesthetic closely related to bupivacaine and it is provided as pure (S) enantiomer.
Ropivacaine IS less likely to produce CNS or cardiovascular toxicity and its cardiovascular adverse effects is at least 25% less than bupivacaine, its clearance is more rapid than bupivacaine with lower lipid solubility, it appears to induce sensory block similar to that obtained with bupivacaine although perhaps with slightly shorter duration of
action, the motor block was less enabled more active
•participation and more active bearing down together with the less reduction in the tone of pelvic diaphragm might have enabled nonnal rotation of the fetal head during second stage and a higher incidence of vaginal delivery.
