Abstract

P
atients with primary antibody deficiencies present to a wide variety of clinical specialties other than clinical immunology with a diagnostic delay. This delay is associated with considerable morbidity and permanent organ damage.
The goal of the study to estimate the frequency of antibody deficiencies in pediatric patients presented at Kafr El Sheikh Fever Hospital with recurrent infections, allowing early diagnosis and rapid treatment before irreversible damage take place.
The current study comprised 50 pediatric patients with recurrent infection. These patients had two or more of Jeffry Model Criteria. These patients were subjected to full history taking, clinical examination and laboratory evaluation that included complete blood count (CBC), serum levels of IgA, IgM and IgG for all patients.
The study revealed that 4 patients (group I) had decreased level of at least one of serum immunoglobulins and the rest of cases 46 patients (group II) had normal levels of serum immunoglobulins.
