Efficacy of Hip Arthroscopy for Management of Septic Arthritis in Children
Moheeb Magdeldin Mohamed Alalfy;
Abstract
Septic arthritis of hip joint in pediatrics is one of the emergencies that require early diagnosis and effective treatment to keep the shape and function of the joint and reduce the disastrous consequences.
Premature infants and children with weak immune systems have septic of hip joint, causing an abscess and Purulent inflammation that erodes the joint and growth center of bones such as the femur, and that in the future lead to severe deformation and instability as a result of destruction of the growth center, cartilage and ligaments surrounding the joint. In early stages, this case can be discovered by observing pain when moving the joint in the baby and perhaps accompanied by pain redness or high temperature, but to assess the situation urgent ultrasound in neonates, must be done while older children the situation can be assessed by regular CT, X-ray magnetic resonance.
Treatment in early stages is giving high doses of antibiotics, in late stages, intervention must by done to save the joint by aspiration of accumulated pus or surgical intervention by open arthrotomy or arthroscopic debridment and irrigation and release of tension caused by accumulating pus inside the joint and doing culture and sensitivity of pus.
This methodology and study aims to present and analyze the effectiveness of the use of laparoscopic surgery in cases of inflammation, pus in children through clinical studies published.
