STUDIES ON IRRIGATION SYSTEMS FOR SOME RICE CULTIVARS

Ismail Saad Hassan EI-Refaee;

Abstract

Field experiments were conducted at the experimental farm of Rice Research and Training Center (RRTC), Sakha, Kafr EI-Sheikh, Egypt during 1999 and 2000 rice seasons to investigate the effect of irrigation regimes on some growth attributes, yield and its components, some grain quality as well as some rice water relations of Giza 178 and Sakha 102 rice cultivars under four planting methods i.e. transplanting, broadcasting, mechanical drilling and dibbling methods.

A split-plot design with four replicates was used in all experiments. The main plots were devoted to four irrigation regimes as following :
11- Alternate 4-day on + 6-day off
lr Alternate 4-day on+ 8-day off

13- Alternate 4-day on + 10-day off
!4- Alternate 4-day on + 12-day off

The sub-plots were occupied by the two rice cultivars (Giza 178 and

Sakha 102).

Growth analysis was determined on interval of 15-day, samples of rice plants were collected at four dates, 60, 85, 90 and 105 days after sowing. A sub-plot area of 10.5 m2 was devoted for yield determinations.
