CHANGES IN VAGI.NiAL MICROFLORA AND BONE RESORBING CITOKINES LEVEL IN POSTMENOPAUSAL PERIOD DUE TO R.OGEDEFICIENCY

ABEER ABD EL-FATTAH EL-SAYED;

Abstract

Estrogen influences the composition of vaginal microflora as it stimulates deposition of glycogen in the vaginal epithelial tissue. Estrogen deficiency in postmenopausal period affects vaginal epithelium which becomes very thin, and glycogen is either absent or its level is greatly reduced and this reduction is partially responsible for the changes in vaginal microflora.
