PERFORMANCE OF SOME WHEAT GENOTYPES UNDER DIFFERENT LEVELS OF IRRIGATION AND NITRGEN FERTILIZATHON
ESSAM EL-DSAYED RIAD ALI;
Abstract
The present investigation was carried out during the two succes:sive
seasons 2003/2004 and 2004/2005 at the Experimental Farm, FacultJ of
Agriculture Minufiya University to investigate the effect of irrigation (three1 and five irrigations) and nitrogen fertilizer (35 and 70 kg.N./fed.) on the grdwth,
. I
physiological behaviour and yield and its components of wheat genotypes. I
The experimental plots were arranged in a combined experiment in plit
split plot design with three replications. Irrigation levels were rand1omly
I
allocated to the main plots, nitrogen fertilizer levels were assigned the sub plots,
while genotypes occupied the sub-sub plots. I
The results obtained from this study could be summarized as follows:-
The studied characters: I
A- Growth and flowering characters:- I
1. Plant height (em.) I
2 I
2. Flag leaf area (cm ) I
3. Length of flag zone (em.) I
4. Days to 50% heading (day) I
B- Drought characters : I
I
1. Relative water content (R.W.C.) I
2. Osmotic pressure (O.P.) I
C-Yield and yield components: I
1- Spike length (em). I
I
2- Number of spikelets/spike. I
3- Number of grains/spike i
f
4- Number of grains/spikelet. I
5- Spike density. I
6-Number of spikes/m2 I
7- 1000-grain weight (g). I
8- Grain yield (ardab per faddan). I
9- Straw yield (ton/fed.). I
10- Biological yield (ton/fed.) I
11- Harvest index (%).
