PROFILE OF HOSPITALS NURSING MANPOWER IN EL-FAYOUM GOVERNORATE

Abstract
The study was conducted to find out characteristics and distribution of nursing man power in El- Fayoum Government Hospitals. Also to find out nurse-bed ratio. The data were collected from the files of I 078 nurses employed by El Fayoum Governorate hospitals. A random sample (476) from these nurse were selected to identify their opinion about aspects of their work. Tools used in the study were (I) A structured format to audit nurse's records to constructing their profile, and (2) A questionnaire was constructed by the researcher to investigate nurses' opinion about some aspects of their work, training programs, job satisfaction and work problems. Results of the study revealed that nurses employed in the rural hospital were younger than those employed by El- Fayoum general hospital and the specialized hospitals. Nurses shortage is evident in El- Fayoum hospitals as reflected in nurse bed ratio combined with the nurse's mal distribution among hospital, inactive nursing manpower force was higher in the rural hospitals compared to El Fayoum general hospital. Nurses are satisfied with their work and recommend retirement be at the age of 50, replication of this study is recommended nursing, manpower plan has to be design based on relevant data and estimated future need, continuous education plan for nurses, empowering nurses manger with adequate authority, and. developing automued information study for nursmg manpower.
