ECOLOGICAL STUDIES ON IMMATURE STAGES OF CULEX PIP/ENS AND THE EFFECT OF SOME CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL PESTICIDES ON CERTAIN BIOLOGICAL ASPECTS AT KAFR EL-SHEIKH

Abstract
In Egypt, large area is cultivated with rice plants, and as a result of the little attention to the drainage system, very suitable sites for mosquito breeding m great numbers are available and convenient for its reproduction.
Kafr EI-Sheikh provmce is considered to be one of the most important province for rice cultivation in A.R.E. Therefore, mosquitoes are one of the greatest problems in the area, and Culex pipiens (L.) is the most wide spread dominant species. Thus, the present work was carried out to:
1- Study the population density of the immature stages of C. pipiens (L.)
in four selected sites representing different sites and the chosen sites were agricultural drains, sewage water, mixed drains, careless small pools and irrigation channels during one whole year.
2- Study the effect of certain chemical and microbial pesticides on some biological characters for C. pipiens mosquito under laboratory conditions.
