SEQUENTIAL CHANGES IN THE PATTERN OF SOME PLASMA PROTEINS IN PATIENTS WITH HEPATITIS C
Hussien Mohamed Salama;
Abstract
Viral hepatitis is a major public health problem throughout the world especially in developing countries where low socioeconomic
levels prevail.
Hepatitis C has a world wide distribution. It shares several fea
tures with hepatitis B .

Variable plasma proteins were studied in different types of hepa-
In the present work we studied the changes in liver functions
and in some plasma proteins (albumin, prealbumin, haptoglolbin, a
1
antitrypsin and a2 macroglobulin ) in patients with viral hepatitis C at
admission, 3rd and 6 th. month from the date of admission . This was in order to find out if they can have any possible value in assessing the prognosis of patients with hepatitis C.
Eighteen HCV positive patients were studied. They were 10 males and 8 females. Their ages ranged from 10 years up to 56 years with a mean age 35.11 ± 12.7 years.
The studied liver fu•nction tests were ALT, AST, ALP. GGT, Bilirubin and Prothrombin time. They were highly increased at ad mission in all cases, normalized in 3 cases at third month and 6 cases
at the sixth
month.
From this study, we found that in the whole group of studied patients:
