(EFFICACY OF SIMPLIFILL VERSUS VERTICAL CONDENSATION ROOT CANAL FILLING TECHNIQUES ON THE APICAL SEAL ( AN IN VITRO STUDY

Wafaa Abd El Backy Mohamed Khalil;

Abstract

The sealing ability of Simplifill was evaluated and compared to vertical condensation obturation technique .
Eighty extracted permanent human maxillary anterior teeth

were selected for the study. The crowns of teeth were decapitated and the root canals biomechanically prepared using Light Speed rotary instruments.
The sealing ability was studied through :

1-Microleakage evaluation at different storage time ( 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 6 weeks )
2-Scanning electron microscope observations of dentinal wall sealer

filling interfaces.

Regarding microleakage.

The eighty specimens were divided into two main groups according to the obturation technique 40 samples for each group :
group I : Simplifill technique .

group II : Vertical condensation technique .

The two groups were subdivided into four subgroups. According to the storage time ten samples per each.
group 1 day . group 3 day .

group 1 week . group 6 weeks.

The microleakage evaluation was done by measunng the apical penetration of India ink dye under stereomicroscope after decalcification and clearing of samples.
