EVALUATION OF THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF FREE GRAFTS IN URETHRAIL RECONSTRUCTION
HOSSAM HAROUN GAMAL EL-DIN;
Abstract
Urethral reconstruction using free graft is a useful technique and its result is not so bad especially if compared with circumstances in which free grafts are used. Free grafts have been always used in sever degree of hypospadias, crippled hypospadias or recurrent and long segment anterior urethral stricture.
This study was conducted upon 75 male patients who were admitted to the Urology Departments of Tanta and Ain Shams University Hospitals during the period of the study. Among our patients 40 patients were hypospadiac and
35 patients had anterior urethral stricture.
The age of hypospadiac patients ranged from 2.5 to 23 years. At presentation (25%) of the cases were primary and (75%) were redo cases. The success rate among the primary and the secondary cases was (70%) and (46.7%) respectively. The site of the hypospadiac meatus was anterior in (5%) of cases, midpenile in (22.5%) and posterior in (72.5%). The length of the grafts used in the management of hypospadiac patients ranged from 2.5-10 em. Twenty three grafts were :55 em with success rate of (60.9%) and 17 grafts were >Scm with success rate of (41.2%). The grafts were used as tube in 30 patients with success rate of (46.7%) and as patch in 10 patients with success rate of(70%).
