Abstract

The present work was conducted in order to contribute some information on the effects of some plant nutrients on the most important biochemical constituents of groundrtut plants hoping to improve seed yield and quality. A field study with groundnut, cv. Giza 5, was conducted at Demo (Fayoum Governorate) during the summer season
1999 to investigate the most important biochemical responses to the application of P as single superphosphate (SSP) at the rate of 30, 60 and
90 kg P205/fed., Ca as either gypsum (GY) at the rate of 500 and 1000 kg/fed., or foliar applied chelated-Ca (FCa) at the concentrations of 1 and
2 g chelated-Ca/1 (200 1/fed.) and elemental sulphur (S) at the rate of 100 and 200 kg/fed. Two plant samples were taken at 70 and 95 days after sowing (DAS) as well as seeds at harvest and subjected to the biochemical analysis. Shoot dry weight at 70 and 95 DAS as well as straw, pod and seed yields, 1OO•seed weight and shelling percentage at
