Abstract


This thesis is pointed to discuss the applications of some electronic techniques for fingerprint recogmt10n and developing some algorithms for Automatic Fingerprint Identification System named A.F.I.S.


The thesis is given in six chapters, the main topics of each one are given as follows:


Chapter one: -


An introduction to fingerprint science includes fingerprint physiology, the main characteristics. the basic definition and main classification method. The methods used for developing latent of fingerprint from crime seine and the different types of fingerprint database in Egypt are also given. Finally the important problems in manual fingerprint recognition systems are discussed to assure the need for automatic fingerprint recognition systems.


Chapter two: -

A background about the basic components of general­
purpose digital image processing systems. The pixel
manipulation and the algorithms affecting the connectivity,
image enhancement and image segmentation are discussed for the purpose of extracting important informations.


Chapter three: -



A review to published algorithms used fingerprint, related to the acquisitiOn, enhancement, classification and extraction addition to fingerprint matching.
