CHEMICAL MODIFICATION OF CELLULOSIC FIBRES USING CARBOXYLIC ACIDS
MOHAMED ABDEL-MONEM GAFFAR;
Abstract
The main target of the • present thesis is to cany out research and development. work in the area of chemical modification of cellulose substrates using polycarboxylic acid with a view of :
a- Producing non - formaldehyde durable press cellulosic fabrics while
maintaining optimal whiteness degree as well as mechanical strength,
b- Imparting antibacterial properties to the ester - crosslinked cellulsic fabrics, and
c- Preparing new cation exchangers based on ester- crosslinked cellulosic
fibres, followed by utilization in removing some hazardous pollutants. Given below are a sununary of and conclusions arrived from these studies.
