PHYSICOCHEMICAL, AND ANALYfiCAL APPUCATION STUDIES ON SO.M E ANTIBACTERIAL DRUGS AND THIDR COMPLEXES WITH TftANsmON MIITAL IONS

Aly Abdalah Mohamed Ahmed;

Abstract

I- In the first chapter, a literature survey of the previous studies on norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin and their complexes with different metal ions is given. This survey includes spectrophotometric, potentiometric, conductometric studies on norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin and their metal complexes.

2- The experimental part (chapter II ) includes the preparation of different concentration of the drugs under investigation. It comprises also information about the instruments used for spectrophotometric, potentiometric, conductometric and ir, UV and 1H-nmr analysis.

3- Chapter III includes the results and discussion and consists of two parts, the first part (A), includes the studies in the solution of complexes formed between the

drugs under investigation with the reagents V03-, Mo04 2

and WO/.

The studies include conductometric, potentiometric, spectrophotometric techinques. From conductometric measurments the stoichiometry of the different complexes is obtained. Potentiometric titrations of the drugs and the reagent V03-,
Mo04-2 and W04-2 are preformed in a medium ofHCl and KCI. The proton- ligand

stability constants log (KH) are detemined as well as the formation constants of the complexes (log KM).
