STUDIES ON CARP PROPEGATION IN EGYPT
KAMAL ALI IBRAHIM MORSY GARRAH;
Abstract
The present study was conducted at Fowa and Abbassa fish
hatcheries to study the effect of some factors location such as year
and female body weight on reproductive traits of black carp (My I 0
paryngodon piceus) 1.mder the Egyptian conditions.
At each hatchery, a total number of 12 females of black carp
were divided to three weight groups, 5-6; 6.5 - 7.5 and 8-9kg. Also,
a total number of 8 males (for each hatche1y) were selected
r~ndomly from the parent stock to use them for insemination of
females dming the pe1iod from Febmmy 1999 to June 2000.
The obtained results can be summarized as fellows:
1- Egg weight per female (EWF):
Average egg weight per female were 602.29 and 636.04 for the
two hatcheries Addassa and Foaw, and 648.54, and 589.79 for
. the two years, 1999 and 2000 and 323.75, 717.81 and 815.94g
for the three body weight groups, 5-6, 6.5 - 7.5 and 8-9kg,
respectively and the difference between averages EWF attributed
to year and female body weight were significant
