A COMPARATIVE LABORATORY AND HISTOLOGICAL STUDY OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF DENTIN BONDING AGENTS
EMAD M. EL SAYED;
Abstract
This study attempted to evaluate some physical and mechanical properties of four commercially available dentin bonding agents. Also to evaluate the application effect of 30% di-potassium oxalate (2 minutes) followed by 3% mono-potassium-monohydrogen oxalate (2 minutes) prior to composite filling.
Tensile bond strength of composite resin bonded to dentin, thermal conductivity of the treated dentin, microleakage, scanning electron microscopic examination of dentin-bonded-restoration interface and pulpal response to variable types of treating dentin were evaluated.
Total 174 specimens were used in this study, 60 sound human molars for tensile bond strength test (Group 1), 30 n1olars for thermal conductivity test (Group 2), 60 sound human maxillary premolars for microleakage study (Group 3), 24 premolars for scanning electron microscopic study (Group 4). A total of 108 specimens were used from dogs' teeth for the histologic part of study (Group 5).
