PREDICTED MATURE HEIGHT IN CHILDREN WITH CENTRAL SEXUAL PRECOCITY

Abcer Elsaycd Mohammed Lashcen;

Abstract

Sexual precocity is defined by the appearance of secondary . sexual characteristics earlier than normal. In true • precocious puberty(TPP), there is premature activation of the hypothalamic• pituitary-gonadal axis. On the other hand, pseudoprecocious puberty• (PPP) results from extrapituitary gonadotrophin secretion or secretion of sx steroids independent of hypothalamic GnRH and pituitary gonadotrophin. However CPP can occur on top of PPP when there is marked BA advancement. TPP leads to increased skeletal maturity which compromises the final adult height of patients and leads to adult short stature. Currently, LHRH agonists represent the treatment of choice for central precocious puberty.
