CONTEMPORARY MANAGEMENT OF ABNORMAL UTERINE BLEEDING

Nivine Yehya Mahmoud Saleh;

Abstract

Abnormal uterine bleeding is a frequent patient complaint. Recognition of the severity, time by evaluation and treatment with good outcomes is the goal.

Although there is clearly a place for surgery, medical therapy has enormous potential for most women. There is a plethora of new devices that can ablate the endometrial cavity successfully and effectively. Also a strong place remains for operative hysteroscopy for the therapy of benign uterine conditions and increase fertility rates so it avoids the risks of open surgery.

Myoma coagulation or myolysis by way of the laparoscope or hysteroscope is a valuable addition in treatment of uterine leiomyomata.
