ELECTROANALYTICAL STUDIES ON SOME. ANTIBACTERIAL DRUGS

Abstract

The present work describes the use of stripping voltammetric techniques for the determination of some antibacterial drugs such as; nitrofurantoin (NF), nitrofurazone (NTZ), furazolidone(FZ) and furaltadone (FD). These compounds were determined using linear sweep voltammetry with two electrodes; Hanging Mercury Drop Electrode (HMDE) and Glassy Carbon Electrode (GCE).

The present investigation can be summarized as follow: -

(1)- The first chapter includes an introduction to stripping voltammetric • analysis, types of stripping analysis techniques and the parameters which may affect to the stripping voltammetric response. The same chapter contains • an • introduction to the history and development of polarography from 1927 up to date. The method and calculations, which have been used to determine the stability constants of the metal-drug interactions, are reported also in this chapter. Finally this chapter includes a literature survey on nitrofuran compounds and the literature survey on the determination of nitrofurantoin, nitrofurazone, furazolidone and furaltadone.
