Peri-operative Cerebral Morbidity after Cardiopulmonary Bypass
Essam Samir Abdou;
Abstract
Adverse neurological outcome from cardiac surgery remains an important cause of post-operative morbidity and is responsible for peri operative mortality. The total cerebral blood flow is about SOml/1OOg brain tissues/min (IS to 20% of total cardiac output). The anterior carotid circulation distributes 4 to 5 times the blood volume of the posterior vertebrobasilar system
