STUDIES ON THE PARASITIC DISEASES OF SOME FRESH WATER FISHES IN DAKAHLIA GOVERNORATE

Abstract
In the present study, some parasitic diseases infestin g fishes of River Nile and lake Ma nzala at Daka hlia Governorate has been investigated.
The results of this work could be sumnzerized as follows :
( I) The clinical signs a nd postmortum l esions in infested f ishes revealed congestion, hyperimic gills with excessive mucous secretion in monogenetic infestation, also the gill of Mugil capita infested with Caligus curtus and Ergasilus sarsi showed congestion and destruction of gill la mellae with highly a mount of mucous secretion. Skin infestation with Lernaea cy prina cae caused haemorrhagic ulcers and dark colouration. The infes ti on with intestinal helminthes revealed the signs of emacia tion and haemorrhage on skin and congestion of intestinal wall.
(2) The prevale nce of parasitic infestation a mong 355 fish collected from River Nile and 399 fish from lake Manzala were 42.25% a nd
40.85% respectively.
(3) The highly parasitic infestation was noticed in Claria s /a ze ra m
River Nile and lake Manzala (62.14% and 49.26% respecti vel y).
(4) The sesona l prevalence of parasitic infestation showed hi ghest percent of infestation in fishes collected from River Nile was in Autumn (52.43%) and the lower percent was in Summer season (35.29%).
