Abstract


Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is an alteration in the volume, pattern, and or duration of menstrual blood flow and it is the most common reason for gynecologic referrals.
Hysteroscopy is the process of viewing and operating in the endometrial cavity from a transcervical approach. It is a minimally invasive intervention that can be used to diagnose and treat many intrauterine and endocervical problems.
Diagnostic hysteroscopy provides information not obtained by blind endometrial sampling, such as detection of endometrial polyps or submucousleiomyomas.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of office hysteroscopy in evaluating casesof abnormal uterine bleeding.
Thiscross sectional study was conducted at the Early Cancer Detection Unit of Ain Shams Maternity Hospital in the period from July 2014 to March 2015.
The study included 112 women presenting with abnormal uterine bleeding.All the selected patients had subjected to careful history taking and then underwent general examination, local pelvic examination, trasnsvaginalultrasound, office hysteroscopy and histopathological examination of the specimens obtained.
