Abstract
The present study was carried out at the Animal and Fish Production Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Kafr El-Sheikh, Tanta University during year 2000. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of dietary-aflatoxin B!-contamination with graded levels (0, 500,
1000 and 1500 J.lg/kg feed) on Nile tilapia fish of different initial body weight (2 and 30 g). Thus; two feeding experiments were carried out for
91 and 56 days on eighter of fish-weight groups, respectively. The experimented fish were stocked at 15 and 5 fish/glass aquarium (60 x 35 x 40 em), respectively. The fish were obtained from Fowa Hatchery (the experimental earthen ponds) and acclimatized for one month on the experimental conditions, through which 3% of the body mass of the fish were offered daily at two equal meals. The feed was 1 mm pellets containing 32% crude protein and protein!calori ratio of 110.77 mglkcal. Each treatment was conducted on two replicates (aquaria). Water temperature was maintained at 26°C using electric heaters with thermostates. Photoperiod was stable 14 hours daily using electric illumination. The aquaria waters were analysed weekly. At the end of each experiment, fish (whole body) was analysed, blood samples were collected for analysis, body weight and internal organs weight were recorded for calculating growth rate and performance as well as organs indices, corrected mortality rates and mean death time were calculated, ecoscan was used for illustrating muscular and infiltration areas in fish body, and at the end, fish were examined for chromosomal behaviour and .cell dividation as affected by aflatoxicosis BI
