Abstract


In this work scyphozoan jellyfish were collected from different areas along most Egyptian coasts in the period between (April 2002 till April 2004). These areas are Mediterranean Sea (Alexandria), Suez Canal (Port Said and Ismailia) and Red Sea (AI Ghardaqa and Sharm El Sheikh), then biological studies were done on toxicity of some common species in Egyptian water, and determine the nematocysts of the most toxic species. Also, this study included chemical composition gametogenisis and sence organs of the dominant jellyfish Rhizostoma octopus.
