Abstract


The current study comprised 60 patients admitted at El-tvlinia General Chest Hospital, 30 of them were diagnosed as having pulmonary tuberculosis, the diagnosis based on clinical and radiological criteria confirmed by the presence of acid fast bacilli, culture and clinical response to antituberculous treatment 17 of them were ZN positive and 13 were ZN negative, the other 30 patients were suffering from chest disease other than tuberculosis.
There were 30 persons apparent.ly normal and heallhy as a control group.


All the diseased and healthy subjects were classified into:


Group I (control group):- it included 30 subjects, apparently normal and healthy.
Group 11 (Pulmonary tuberculous group):­


they were subdivided into:


lla: 17 patients with ZN positive. lib: 13 patients with ZN negative.
Group Ill (Non tuberculous group):- it included 30 patients suffering from chest diseases other than tuberculosis.
From all subjects the following investigations done.


1- Complex clinical examination.


2- Chest X-ray.


3- Direct smear for sputum by Z. N.
