FLEXURAL BEHAVIOUR OF RC BEAMS STRENGTHENED BY NEAR SURFACE MOUNTED FRP BARS

Islam Shokry Mohamed Aly Shabana;

Abstract

In this chapter, the conclusions of this research and the recommendations for future work are illustrated. In the experimental part of the research, a limited test matrix of 6 RC beams was designed to investigate the effects of the FRP cross sectional area, end anchoring of the CFRP bars, and partial bonding of the NSM systems. In the numerical part of the research, 3D FE models were developed to validate the experimental results, and then a series of parametric studies was conducted to examine the effects of different parameters. Results obtained in this research might not be significant because of the limited test matrix, however, a better understanding on the flexural strengthening with end-anchored CFRP bars would be provided by these results.
