Comparison Between CuT380A IUCD Insertion During Cesarean Section (with fixation) and 6 weeks Postpartum: Randomized controlled study

Abstract

Postpartum months are a challenging time for women because of breastfeeding, childcare, menstrual resumption, and resumption of sexual relations. Postpartum period is highly vulnerable period to unintended pregnancy as there are limited contraceptive options available in the breast feeding women. At the same time ovulation is highly unpredictable in non breast feeding or non exclusive breast feeding women. an ideal time to begin contraception, as women are highly motivated to adopt contraception at this time, which also has the advantages of being convenient for both women and health care providers. The choice of a post-partum contraceptive method depends on many factors, including the need for a temporary versus a permanent method, the infant feeding choice and the extent to which informed consent is made prior to delivery. Limited use of some hormonal contraceptive methods during the postpartum period may be due to their effects on lactation and infant growth. In addition, other side effects such as heavy menstrual bleeding and pain, have been associated with these methods.
