GENETIC STUDIESFORDETERMINING GENES RESPONSIBLE FOR HEAT TOLERANCE IN SOME LOCAL STRAINS OF CHICKEN
HABIBA HASSAN REZK MAHMOUD;
Abstract
This experiment was carried out at Poultry Breeding Farm, poultry production Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University. The main goals of the present study were evaluating some productive traits of some local breeds (Fayoumi, Dandarawi and Sinai) under heat stress condition, and estimated relationship between heat tolerance and gene expression of heat shock protein for three Egyptian breeds before and after introducing Naked neck gene .
The main results obtained could be summarized as follows.
1.Parent stock
1.1. Body weight (males and females)
Live body weight of Fayoumi breed was significantly heavier body weight compared to Sinai and Dandarawi breeds at different ages in both sex. Also, that control group was significantly heavier from treatment group at different ages. So, all type interactions were significantly.
1.2. Body measurements(males and females)
All body measurements (keel length, shank length, body depth, tibia length and comb and wattle length) in both sexes were measured for found that Fayoumi breed was significant compared to Sinai and Dandarawi breeds in such trait at different ages. Likewise, the interaction between breed and treatment and ages for body measurements at different of ages were insignificant.
1.3. Maturation measurement
The results showed that Sinai female reached sexual maturity earlier than Fayoumi and Dandarawi breed by about 3 days, but
