EVALUATION OF PROLENE MESH AS A SINGLE INCISION TOT FOR THE TREATMENT OF FEMALE STRESS URINARY INCONTINENCE

Abstract


This study was done for evaluation of the feasibility, safety and efficacy of prolene mesh as a needleless single incision TOT for the surgical treatment of female SUI.
Between January 2011 to October 2013, at the Urology Department in Cairo University Hospitals, and Shoubra general hospital, 22 female patients complaining of SUI, were included in this study.
All patients were evaluated pre-operatively by history, physical examination, laboratory investigations, radiological investigations and urodynamic evaluation.
Our results were subjected to detailed statistical analysis and we found that:
The mean age was 42.09 ± 9.47 years, 50% had pure SUI, while 50% had MUI, the score mean for SUI was 8 ± 2.81, while The score mean for UUI was 3.77 ± 3.90, The score mean for impact of incontinence on QOL was 3.14 ± 0.99, 3 cases had grade II cystocele, while the rest had no cystocele, 4 cases had grade II rectocele, while 1case had grade I rectocele. The mean (± SR) value of ALPP was109.50 ± (57.92) cm H2O, while mean bladder capacity (± SR) was 471.27 ± (174.99) ml. The mean operative time (± SR) value was 14.77 min (± 7.95), while the mean blood loss (± SR) value was 42.95 ± (19.19 ml).
