Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a universal health problem and occur any age. This disease has many complications mainly vascular complications which result in atherosclerosis, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic retinoP'.tthy and diabetic neuropathy. Several methods of early detection of these complications were introduced. One of these methods is determination of NAG and its isoenzymes in serum and urine of diabetic patients.
NAG is a lysosomal enzyme of high • molecular mass mainly present in proximal convoluted tubule. NAG has two major isoenzymes A (acidic) and B (basic) also traces of intermediate isoenzymes [ld, [Ill• and additional isoenzyme (A'} is present mainly in serum and CSF.
