Studies on Storage of Lentil and Wheat After Fumigation With Phosphine

Abstract
The experiment was conducted at the laboratories of the Agronomy
I kpartnwnt, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut lJniverstty.
The susceptibility of wheat varictj' e.v. Giza 164 ('hiticum aestivum
Vulgare) seeds and lentil cultivar Giza l) (Lens cu/inaris Medikus) to
I umigalion \\ th phosphine (pH 3 ). Phosphine was applieJ at the dosages of
3. 6 and 9 tablets/ton of gra111 and exposed for 24, 48 and 72 hours after fLUnigation treatment in addition to a control treatment resulting in I 0 trealinent combinations.
Batches of grains were testeu Jirectly alter fumigation for viability and scculing growth anu sum: grain ami !lour physical and chemical propentes. While other samples vvere stored for I, 3 and 6 months, after which they were examined for tht: previous mentioned characters.
The results could be summarized as follows:

1- Germination power ('Yo):
( iertnlllation powet• were significantly affected by storage period and th .: llllt:raetion between such periods ur J other treatments. The gcm1ination power decreased grauually by increasing storage period from control up to 6 month.
Fumigation treatments gave a similar value in germination power.
