DETECTION OF ORGANOPHOSPHATE, I' CARBAMATE INSECTICIDES AND MIXTURE j' OF BOTH (AN IN VIVO STUDY)
Ahmed Kamal EL-Fiky;
Abstract
Organophosphate and carbamate insecticides act as a cholinestrase inhibitors, the functional changes produced are mainly due to accumulation of excessive amounts of acetylcholine within the body with some direct effects on central nervous system, organophosphates are considered irreversible cholinestrase inhibitors and carbamates are reversible inhibitors, although this cholinestrase inhibition is reversible, the side effects would be excpected to be the same as in organophosphates in the form of :
- Nicotinic effect :
Due to persistent depolarization of skeletal muscles lead to fasculations followed by neuromuscular block and paralysis.
- Muscarinic effects :
