Clinical Simulation Versus Traditional Laboratory Training on Nursing Students' Level of Competence

Abstract


The present study aim was to evaluate the effect of clinical simulation versus traditional laboratory training on nursing students' level of competence. To achieve the study objective a comparative quasi experimental study design has implemented at conducted at Maternity neonatal clinical Lab. in faculty of nursing, Ain Shams University.
A convenient sample of two hundred students were included in the study, those students were divided into two equal group (simulated g and traditional) at the previously mentioned settings.
Data collection has been carried out throughout the period from beginning of october2013 till the end of march 2014. It has been done through four tools (a self-administered questionnaire sheet, Student's knowledge assessment tool, practical skills assessment tool, Attitude assessment tool).
In addition to educational video “Supportive material" about immediate postpartum assessment for simulation group and demonstration on doll for traditional group.
The present study revealed that:
 About 70% of simulated group has not past experience while 60% of traditional group has past experience,
