Abstract
Smart clothes are garment possess both electronic functionality and textile characteristics. Textiles have been used as a substrate for sensors since they are ubiquitous. The aim of this work is designing non-contact biosensor knitted fabric to detect the mechanical movement of human body such as, breathing mechanism and transfer it as electrical behavior, for the application of indirect contact clothing.
First: materials and tools:
• Knitted sensor fabrics were manufactured from Ag coated / Nylon yarn (conductive yarn) combined with Nylon / Elastomeric yarn (non-conductive yarn).
• A cyclic tester measuring unit was designed and built to simulate the breathing mechanism of the human (stretching and contraction of chest). The device is connected to the laptop and programed with C language program; it was calibrated at Benha electronics Company.
Second: steps of work:
• A preliminary study was carried out In order to select the proper combination ratio of conductive yarn to non-conductive yarn for designing the breathing sensor. 4 yarns were used; the ratios are 4
