Relationship between Leadership Self-efficacy and Leadership Effectiveness among Head Nurses

Abstract
Introduction: Self-efficacy has been used extensively to analyze and predict what motivates human behavior, to include leadership behaviors. The connection between self-efficacy and leader effectiveness may be critical to find new ways of selecting and developing leadership in organizations. Aim: This study aimed to assess the relationship between leadership self-efficacy and leadership effectiveness among head nurses. Design: Descriptive correlational design was used. Setting: This study conducted at Kafr El Zyat General Hospital. Total study subjects included 296 nurses. Tools of data collection: Two tools used namely, leadership self-efficacy inventory for assessment leadership self-efficacy and multisource assessment rating of leadership effectiveness. Results: The lowest mean score of leadership self-efficacy was related to change and drive dimensions. The highest mean of head nurses’ perceptions for leadership effectiveness was related to empowering leadership and creative leadership. Nursing supervisors perceived that their head nurses had moderate level of leadership effectiveness,while staff nurses perceived that their head nurses had low level of leadership effectiveness.
