WESSAM GAMAL ABOU SENNA;

Abstract

Dislocation of head radius in children was wrongly considered a rare condition due to underestimation of cases, however, due to the development of better methods of investigations and treatment it has attracted the attention of many anthors now. Dislocation may be subluxation (pulled elbow) which is a very common condition and usually needs no treatment apart from closed reduction.

True dislocation may be congenital which is usually associated with other anomalies or traumatic which may be isolated or associated with other traumatic conditions or secondary to certain pathological conditions. Apart from that anses a separate entity of dislocation, which is the developmental type which appears in early childhood and starts to be symptomatic around puberty.

Every type of dislocation has its own characters from the anatomical and pathological points of view and has its own mechanism of injury and method of treatment, which are included in details in the study.

Traumatic cases which are among Monteggia and Monteggia associated or related lesions constitute a major class of the study.
