Molecular Genetics and Lymphoproliferative Disorders

Hala Mahmoud Sabry Mohamed;

Abstract

Lymphocyte neoplasms can originate from cells that are at a stage prior to T-and B-lymphocytes differentiation which are known as the primitive stem cells, or from cells at stages of maturation after stem cells differentiation.
The International lymphoma study Group proposed a new classification called REAL classification for lymphocyte malignancies which is based on pathologic, immunophenotypic, genetic, and clinical features of each tumor.
In recent years, it has become apparent that many

lymphoid neoplasms are characterized by non-random chromosomal abnormalities like translocation and deletion which involve TCR or Ig genes.
Chromosomal abnormalities acquired by the leukaemic or lymphoma cells are now known to play a central role in the pathogenesis and diagnosis of leukaemia and lymphoma.
