The Lipoprotein Profile Before and After Treatment of Women With Hyperprolactinemia

Abstract


Hyperprolactineamia is a common gynecological problem, having many manifistations, one of these manifistations is hyperprolactineamia and hypertriglyceridemia.


The study included 40 cases, 20 nonnal controls, and 20 hyperprolactineamic patients, the patient and the control groups were subjected to a full history, general & local examination. then a blood samples where withdrown from both the case and the control group, to measure, serum PRL, TC, TG, LDL,& IIDL.


The patient group was treated with bromocreptine therapy, and re­

evaluation ofthe blood samples was done 3 months later.



The results of the lipid profile aller treatment with dopamine agonist therapy shows improvement from the values measured before treatment, also the prolactin level was significantly decreases after treatment, also the cliniGal cc mplaint completely disapeared.


The present study showed a sit,mificant indirect effect ofbromocreptin on the lipid profile after treatment, through improvement of ovulation and nonnalization of estrogen level.


Thus all patients with hyperprolactineamia should be encoraged to take effective dopamine agonist therapy to improve there lipid profile toward normal values & to decrease there cardiovascular risks.
