Non Locking Technique for Closure of Rectus Sheath in Cesarean Section on Post-operative Pain: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Safa Hassan Ali Hassanin;

Abstract

This randomized controlled trial was conducted at Ain Shams university maternity hospital, the study included 150 women at reproductive age who were admitted for delivery at term. Data was analysed for 147 women as 3 women could not be reached by phone postoperatively and were not included in analysis.
The aim of this study was to compare closure of anterior rectus sheath by double-lock technique versus its closure by continuous non-locking technique as regards post-operative pain after cesarean section through Pfannenstiel incision.
The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups; group (D) which included 75 women who received the double lock technique for closure of rectus sheath. Group (C) which included 75 women who received the continuous non locking method for closure of rectus sheath.
The present study showed that comparison between double locking technique and continuous non locking technique for closure of rectus sheath in cesarean section as regards average static pain scores in each 24 hours for seven days postoperatively showed statistically significant decrease in double locking technique group in fifth, sixth and seventh days. The P value was lesser than 0.001.
