2- THE RESEARCH PROBLEM

This research deals with the concerns about the linkage between the currently applied planning methodologies and their suitability and adequacy in light of recent communication technologies development. It uses the comparative approach as a mean to find a relation between the current used planning methodologies and the communication technology development, in order to propose viable trends for necessary modifications for the proper correlation and linkages between them to maximize the outputs and outcomes of the physical planning process.

The proposed methodology for conducting this research is stemming about linkingt

60ais oi the research and its eiements to develop the factual processes and proceed accordingly. The used methods in this research are the theoretical method, the analytical method, the comparative analytical method, and the deductive method.

4- THE RESEARCH STAGES

The research proceeded on four successive stages namely:

1. The background investigation covering the basic definitions of the planning process, the communication technology using the theorotical method leading to finding and presenting the historical development that happened in the definitions according to the different point of views that considered both the planning process and the communication technology.

2. The following step presentats the analysis to the current planning methodologies and to the current and developed communication technology, using the analytical method. This helped in comprehending the different planning methodologies and the current communication technology which will lead to percepting the future necessary changes in planning methodology and its adaption to anticipated developed communication technology.
