Abstract


This is the time to think of Egyptian modification for the theory and the best start is the teenage period of life. The Egyptian culture varies from the Western in many concepts, traditions, and moral habits; not only that, but also problems concerning educationaL social, and religious aspects are totally different. The role of the nurse as a counselor is socially important to deal with these problems through personal contact with adolescents' families.

According to Gordon [1996] adolescence stretches from the onset of puberty to the attainment to full physical maturity. It encompasses considerable changes including sudden physical growth, surging sexual and aggressive drives with associated tmcertainities about sexual role, adequacy, identity and transition to autonomy associated with dependence and independence, conflict, moral values may be expected to crystallize.

According to WHO [ 1995] we should remember that adolescents don't have mature thinking process, may have trouble thinking about future outcomes. They often live entirely in the here and now.

Aim of the study:

l . To identify the psychosocial characteristics of the
Eh'YPtian adolescents.

.., To profile the maJor problems of Egyptian adolescence.
