Shady Mourad Monir Boss;
Abstract
Stroke is a second cause of death Worldwide about 16 million people got stroke each year which cause about 5.7 million deaths each year, Although many predictors affect the severity and the prognosis of the stroke, still many efforts are done to predict the severity of the stroke and predict the improvement of the clinical outcome of stroke patients. The current study was conducted among thirty consecutive patients admitted to stroke unit in Ain Shams University Specialized Hospital with acute cerebral ischemic stroke during the first 48 hours after onset. The patients age ranged from 35-90 years old. The patients were diagnosed as having Acute Cerebral infarction Lesion by MRI done admission. At the beginning of the assessment, subjects were requested for demographic data and data concerned with gender, age, risk factors as diabetes, hypertension and type of lesion as regarding the homogeneity of the lesion (homogenous or non-homogenous).
The current study aimed to investigate whether there is a significant relation between homogeneity of the acute cerebral infarction lesion and its impact on the clinical outcome.
88
The study subjects were all examined and full Clinical evaluations done including complete medical history of including age, sex, history of smoking or alcohol intake, history and duration of hypertension, history and duration of diabetes, history of ischemic heart disease, atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction or rheumatic heart disease, history and number of previous strokes, TIAs and ICH and history with antiplatelet or anticoagulants prior to the onset of stroke.
