Low Frequency Electromagnetic Field And Its Effect On Spermatogenesis Of Albino Rats

Magdy Al Said Abdel Salam Abdel Rahman;

Abstract

Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) are produced when electric current flows through an electric conductor such as power line. Most humans are mainly exposed to extremely low frequency EMFs which are normally defined as less than 200-
3001-lz. these are present in both residential and work place

environments. Although EMFs are usually associated with high voltage power lines and power stations; they are also produced by any electric power device and exposure occurs, for example, from routine use of common household and work place appliances such as video display tenninals, televisions, hair dryers and cellular phones

Nonnal spennatogenesis reqmres the action of two pituitary gonadotrophins. The luteinizing hormone (LH) and the follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) under regulation control of (GnRH) gonadotropin releasing hormone. There is a general agreement that both gonadotrophins are needed for the initiation of spermatogenesis during pube1ty

The ann of this study is finding out the effect of extremely low frequency EMF on spermatogenesis of albino rats through testicular histopathology and hormonal assay.
