Abstract
The present work is titled "Taxonomic and morphological studies on family Conopidae (Order: Diptera) in Egypt". It includes the following:
- An illustrated morphological study of Conops elegans Meigen as a representative of the familyreveals the important characteristic features of the different body parts; scanning electron microscopy examination of the different types of sensilla on antenna, wings and spicules on female genitalia.
- Ataxonomic review of 21 species within five genera and three subfamilies: Conopinae, Myopinae and Zodioninae from the Egyptian fauna, of which, Thecophora fulvipes (Robineau - Desvoidy) is recorded from Egypt for the first time. Updating names, synonyms, diagnosis and keys for genera and species; geographical and local distributions of each species are also given.
