Abstract


his study aimed to compare the use of double balloon catheter versus PGE1 analogue for preinduction cervical ripening in women planned for induction at term as demonstrated by CS rate, which was taken as primary outcome, interval to achieve a ripe cervix, interval from start of induction to delivery, interval from start of induction to active phase of labour, oxytocin requirement, route of delivery, apgar scores and occurrence of complications such as: hyperstimulation, tachysystole, uterine rupture, fetal heart rate disturbance and post part hemorrange.
For ethical and research approval, the protocol and all corresponding documents were declared and approved by the council of OB/GYN department as well as ethics committee members of Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University.
