Flow of a fluid near a plate and its stability

Abstract


In this thesis, we study the steady flow of a laminar boundary layer of a viscous fluid over a vertical plate in the presence of heat and mass transfer and induced magneic field. Also, the study includes the discussion of the stability of a thermal flow. This study is classified into four chapters.
The First Chapter:
It includes a short note about transport properties of the fluid as for variable coefficient of viscosity (!-!) , thermal diffusivity (K) and mass diffusivity (D) with temperature - Boundary layer theory - The transfer of mass - The magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer

Chapter Two:
The aim of this chapter is a numerical study of laminar double
diffusive free convection viscous flows adjacent to vertical plate, taking into account the variation of the viscosity and double diffusive coefficients with temperature. The governing equations of conservation of mass, momentum, heat and mass species are non­ dimensionalized by using appropriate transformation. The obtained equations are solved numerically by using the fourth order Runge­ Kutta' Integration Scheme along with the Nachtshemeim-Swiger shooting technique. The vanatwn of velocity, temperature, concentration, shearing stress on the plate, the local Nusselt number for heat transfer and the local Sherwood number for mass transfer with different values of parameters of the flow is.•. studied. The results are tabulated and presented graphically. We dedU!)d •.that-
1- The velocity increases as a, I> 2 and Nincrease.
2- The velocity decreases as Pr. and Sc increase.
3- The temperature increases as 1 increases
4- The temperature decreases as a, 2 , Pr and N increase.
5- The concentration increases asand increase.
6- The concentration decreases as a , Nand Sc increase.
