Prospective and Retrospective Study on Application and Assessment of Autologus Fat Grafting in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Osama 'Yassin Mostafa Taha;
Abstract
The present study included the evaluation of autologous fat grafting either by injection of the aspirated fat or by dermal fat grafting in 15 patients with different cosmetic problems such as traumatic scars, hemifacial atrophy, postoperative depressions and facial bony and soft tissue defects or by local adipofascial flaps to reconstruct defects around the ankle joint clinically and by photographic documentation in I 0 patients.
The patients ages varies between 6 years and 56 years with the mean age 31 years, 15 patients were males and 10 patients were female.
We used fat graft with a dermal portion in 9 patients and lipoaspirated fat in 6 patients using the cheming movement of the aspirated fat between two syringes converting the aspirated fat into a lipogel.
We also applicate the distally based posterior calf adipofascial flap in
10 patients all were men.
Different donor sites were tried, different indications were also tried, also treating different recepient sites were tried which were different in nature, size, site and status of skin over it, and by comparing our clinical results we started overscoring several techniques over the others.
No major complications were encountered during this work, beyond some edema, bruises and resorption which could be considered as a part of the procedures and not a complication, also marginal necrosis and graft loss in few cases subjected to pediclad adipofascial flaps.
