EFFECT OF SOME MOLLUSCICIDES ON THE MYCOFLORA OF EGYPTIAN SOIL

Zeinab El-Kady Rashedy;

Abstract

The present investigation aimed at studying the effect of molluscicides on the population of soil fungi, when applied directly to the soil or when incorporated into isolation agar medium. Two types of media (glucose- Czapek's agar and cellulose- Czapek's agar) were use for isolation of soil fungi. The effect of these molluscicides on the mycelial growth of five fungal species was also tested.
Also, the effect of some abiotic factors on the toxicity of molluscicides to some tested fungi was investigated, effect of molluscicides on cellulose decomposition and on total protein in fungal free filtrate.
Bayluscide

1-Bayluscide when applied to the soil was depressive to the total count of both sugar and cellulose - decomposing fungi specially with the higher doses (10, 20 mg/ gm soil). This effect persisted till the end of the experiment
2- When incorporated into the agar medium at the four doses (25,50, 100, 1000 mg I L)., Bayluscide exerted a significant inhibition on the count of total fungi and several fungal species recovered on both glucose and cellulose -Czapek's agar medium at least by high dose.
3- The liquid medium, Bayluscide proved to be toxic to all test fungi expet Trichoderma hamatum whose mycelial growth was not significantly affected by low dose.
Copper sulphate

4-Application of copper sulphate directly to the soil, one inhibitory and the other stimulatory, on the total count of sugar and cellulose- decomposing fungi at certain treatments.
